Explanation Jade is an extremely hard stone from Itoigawa that is difficult to break and difficult to process. Large jade beads are five centimeters or larger in size and have a hole drilled in the center. Round large beads are distributed from southern Hokkaido to the northern Tohoku region. They are thought to have been used in festivals and ceremonies.
