Facility Overview
This facility provides information on the value, charm, and accessibility of the eight sites that comprise the World Heritage Site “Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan,” located in Aomori Prefecture.
1. JOMON Welcome Wall
An overview of the facility is presented through an animated video, and a chronological table is used to compare the Jomon Prehistoric Sites and other World Heritage Sites both in Japan and overseas.
2. JOMON Village Life

Dioramas of the four seasons and the lifestyle of the Jomon period, together with models of modern excavation work, are exhibited in this area. Visitors can also enjoy listening in on villager conversations using a tablet.
3. JOMON Library
This area has themed exhibitions on the Jomon Prehistoric Sites presented in display cases, as well as a book and magazine corner offering information on the sites, making it a location that can also be used as a meeting point.
4. JOMON Video Corner
In addition to videos that highlight the value and charm of the Jomon Prehistoric Sites, this corner also offers augmented reality content that lets visitors immerse themselves in the Jomon period alongside realistic animals.
5. JOMON Exciting Field
This area features a photo spot where visitors can take photos wearing Jomon attire, along with fun, hands-on activities for children such as a fishing game, a pottery puzzle, and a pottery/figurine memory game.

This corner features artifacts and replicas that convey the charm of the eight sites that comprise the Heritage Sites in Aomori Prefecture.
7. JOMON Visit Navigation
Two large touch-panel monitors have been installed to allow visitors to search for transportation access, events, and other information related to each archaeological site.
